Welcome to week two of third grade! This week the students will be starting homework. Reminder that homework is assigned Monday - Thursday. Reading homework is every night, as well as a sheet (front and back) of math. The math is a continuation of the work we have done in class that day. Students must return the reading log and math homework the next day. We will correct math homework right away the following day.

Monday: 1-4 Find the Halfway Number
Tuesday: 1-5 Rounding
Wednesday: 1-6 More Rounding
Thursday: 1-7 Problem Solving: Make an Organized List
Friday: Chapter 1 Review and Test in class
Reading:
This week in reading we will be continuing our Benchmark Advance Interim 1 Assessment. This is a long test and is broken up in to three days. Students will be assessed on their comprehension skills. Once we are finished with this assessment we will begin Unit 1 of Benchmark. The first Unit is Government with the essential question of "Why do people participate in government?"
We will be getting to know our textbook with a 5-4-3-2-1 activity.

Writing:
This week we will be working on narrative writing. The students will be getting their writer's notebook and being introduced to the Circle Thinking Map. For some students it is familiar, but others will be learning it.
